Connecticut has been experiencing significant dryness and drought conditions, with parts of the state under a Stage 2 Drought Advisory in late 2025, affecting communities with abnormal dryness impacting rivers and stressing water supplies despite some recent rain. While some light rain has occurred, it hasn’t been enough to eliminate the deficits, with more significant rainfall needed. Drought conditions are expected to persist or further expand without substantial precipitation, as warmer weather continues to support drying.
The Town of Stonington and Stonington Beautification Committee are offering Rain Barrels at a discount to curtail town water usage and to teach methods to reverse climate change. Please scroll to learn how you can get a discounted rain barrel.
$10 of each barrel purchase goes to the Stonington Beautification Committee.
