The Town encourages the use of rain barrels as part of a water conservation program. Rainwater can be used for watering gardens, lawns, washing cars, and many other non-potable purposes. Rainwater is not chlorinated, so it is great for plants and lawns. Whether you get your water from municipal water supply or private well, using rainwater reduces water demand. Collected rain water helps during times of drought and aids in controlling runoff during heavy rains. When rain arrives in torrents, diverting some into rain barrels helps to slow runoff and limits erosion.
The Town of Jamestown is partnering with the Great American Rain Barrel Company to offer this rain barrel opportunity!
